The Skeleton and the Hags provide an insight into the inner workings of a wooden hollow core surfboard. The board "skeleton" is a Funboard or "Mini Mal" style surfboard and is constructed in Western Red Cedar and White Poplar. The Hag Stones that float beneath the skeleton were collected from the beaches of Manasota Key here in Englewood Florida and the piece of driftwood is from the Chesapeake Bay in Virginia. Hag Stones are rocks that have holes in them from erosion or other natural causes. It is believed that Hag Stones have magical properties and they are able to mysteriously ward off witches and other ne’er-do-wells.

It’s all in the hole...... The belief goes that only good things can pass through a hole, so while good fortune and good wishes will find you through a hag stone, bad luck and evil thoughts are too big to be able to pass through.
