This is the first fusion piece that I created 10 years ago. The driftwood is from Kilmarnock Va and the boards are all constructed from Western Red Cedar and Aspen. I found this piece of driftwood while walking the beach with my family and instantly knew that I had to create something from it. As it was my first piece, I once again had a huge learning curve on how to properly clean and prepare the driftwood. It took me almost 2 weeks to clean the years of dirt and grime, scrape the surface to get to stable wood, bleach bath to kill any microorganisms and bugs that might be in and on the wood, and bake to stabilize the wood. Of all of my pieces, this is the one that I hold nearest and dearest to my heart.
